I don't know exactly how many people here play around with graphics in their free time, but I was wondering if there would be a need for something like a GFX Helpdesk.
Working with graphics can be a really rewarding way to spend your free hours. The things you can create are sometimes amazing, and the combinations and possibilities are literally limitless, so you never really stop learning.
Now I sometimes hear people expressing their interest in wanting to try and do for example a signature for themselves, but are lost in the endless forest of functions a graphical program offers, sometimes even before they really get started. For these people I was wondering a helpdesk of sorts might come in handy.
This 'GFX Helpdesk' would just simply be a topic that I could start and pin down, in which everyone who does some graphical work every now and then and has a question, or wants to learn about graphics, could post their queries. Those people with a little bit more experience could help the others out with advice.
As said we could start out with simply one topic, but who knows if it turns out to be a popular one, I could have a chat with Rags to see if we could make it a subforum in the GFX section, where there would be more room for topics about different subjects. I was even thinking of posting some tutorials in there, some basics ones to start out with, and later on maybe a few more advanced ones.
But anyway, I'm getting carried away. First I would like to know whether there would be interest for such a thing in the first place. So I would like to ask you:
If you work with graphics on any level, would like to start doing it but don't know how to, or just have an opinion about this idea, please post your view in here. I will also add a simple 'yes-or-no'-poll where you can cast your vote.
Apart from that I am adding a poll inquiring who here on TT is interested in working with graphics, just to see what kind of a crowd we are looking at here. And of course you can leave a comment if you want to.
Well, let me know, I'm curious about this one.

Hi Scorpion,
Once upon a time, some people gets some good ideas ! This one is a lightning in our dark space ! Sure most of us would like to be able to create some GFX, just to be able to see how they can manage to create what about they think. Few of us made a try, (I did..) and the result is sometimes good, but often eeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!
So yes, that's a pretty good idea, could look interesting to know where to begin, which program to use and more of all cross our all knowledge and experiment as often as possible, creating then a full database where anyone could find what he looks for. (A sort of Wiki...)
Really anxious to see that topic starts.

Well I think we have gotten as many replies as we can. I have to say that the results from the polls are better than I expected. Of the 7 voters, there are 4 people who already work a little bit with graphics, but would like to increase their skills. And to my surprise, all 7 voters like the idea of having a help-desk of sorts. A very encouraging picture.
I'll just start a topic here in the GFX are called 'GFX Help-Desk' and pin it down for now. I'll add some general tips in there and we'll see where it goes from that point on. If there is a need to expand to different subjects or skill levels we could do that.
Thanks for the votes everyone!
