damn no vanilla install :/ 

 

is there an easy way to revert back to vanilla fen?

collision damage perhaps? fleet of cap ships smashing into stations MUAHHAHAHHAHA

 

the reason i asked was the whole looting a station, then undocking and then blowing it up just to be a jerk cause well.. thats what bad guys do > 

 

itd be cool if all the people that can/do mod freelancer got together and tried to port it to a newer engine

operating system: 

bastardized windows xp pro. I used a program called nLite to remove all the bloatware, unnecessary junk drivers etc and took the 600MB install disk down to 80MB or so, with specific drivers, the install disk is less than 200MB. to put that into perspective, light up a cig, go to install windows, the installation finishes and is at the desktop before you finish the smoke

the case i custom built using polycarbonate (lexan) and a bridgeport 3 axis mill to cut out the openings. the cool thing bout the case is that its damn near indestructable... ive taken baseball bats and hammers to the material and i couldnt break it. the guts of the computer will fall apart before the case will break. 

 

the screen is a heavily modified 8" Lilliput touch screen. i took apart the oem case and fabricated my own case to fit bmw's dashboard. in the case i fabricated, i have the remnants of a dell keyboard for the media play buttons and volume knob which i fabricated into the front of the monitor case, the touch screen driver board, radio shack buttons wired into the screens front circuit board for brightness, auto adjust and menu options. 

 

and yes... it can game... not very high framerates tho, using aquamark3 it fared ok, with an additional pcie graphix then it'd be a nice lil game box but for an automotive application it needs to be as low power as possible. im pretty sure it "could" play freelancer...

hmmmm...... thermal paste...... oddly enough..... if you "lap" the processor using 800 grit sand paper on a glass table (very clean) till it has an almost mirror finish (that is if it has a metal heat shield) and you can use silicone paste [ like the stuff they use to lubricate caliper brake pins ] ( A TINY LITTLE DOT OF IT!!!.... as big as the O on your keyboard).... if its a laptop overheating, then your heat pipe fans may be failing, try running the server with the lappy closed and the ram cover removed and if it has a floppy port/drive, remove it.

 

im pretty sure most refrigerators door seals will allow for a power chord and a net cable to still seal, throw that badboy in the fridge .... NOT in the freezer.... it will collect humidity and short out pretty quick.... don't ask... OH better yet, look at garage sales or what have you for one of them wine fridges boom, problem solved

my ship has been covered in dust and grime used more so as a shelf than a ship of destruction and mayhem.... should fire up the reactors soon.... forgot where I put the fuel cell.... Monday night I should dig through the hangar and see where all these parts go and enter space.... wonder if my stuff is still there....

it reminds me of an old benchmarking program... i think it was 3DMark 2001 SE or 2003... cant remember off hand... very nice tho, gives the illusion of motion while being blinded by the sun. Looks like you used a LOT of layers and the lens effect definately sets it off!
